What to expect ?
- Barranco Fundo has an open, light and modern atmosphere. Because of the privacy and the wonderful nature around, this house offers the perfect setting to come home to Portugal and relax with family and friends.
- The house was built on the slope of a valley of the same name.
- The grounds include a restored house “The Cottage, and a new, modern villa. The Villa, suitable for 8 guests, is available on a weekly basis from april until november. The cottage (for 4 people) is available from november until april.
- Barranco Fundo is not available for bachelor parties and similar events.
- The Villase was completed in the fall of 2020. In the construction proces natural materials and techniques were used wherever possible. It was build in timber frame construction, the walls were insulated with wood wool and local cork. The water is heated via solar panels on the roof, the interior floors are in solid oak and all terraces are laid in calçada (small natural stone cobbles from the Algarve) which were expertly placed stone by stone by local craftsmen. The house was built around an existing century-old olive tree, which provides shade to the south terrace.
- Barranco Fundo is located halfway between Faro (55 km) and Sagres (60 km) on the Portuguese south coast, a stone’s throw from Ferragudo on the Arade river and a 5-minute drive from the nearest beach. Due to its location, this place is the perfect base to discover the whole Algarve from east to west.
- You drive from Faro in 40 minutes to Barranco Fundo.
- Faro airport can be reached from many countries in Europe.
Inside
- Barranco Fundo is a single storey villa with an interior surface of 230 m2.
- The open kitchen invites you to prepare delicious (Portuguese) dishes yourself. She is spacious and very well equipped with a cooking island with induction fire, 2 ovens, dishwasher, fridge, Nespresso coffee machine, Quooker hot water tap, juicer, blender, toaster, and all conceivable cooking and table utensils.
- Adjacent is the utility room with washer and dryer, freezer, extra sink, ironing board + steam iron.
- On the terrace, adjacent to the kitchen, is a Weber barbecue.
- The dining table for 8 people overlooks the south-facing garden.
- There is a spacious and bright living room that is directly connected to the north and south facing terrace. There is TV with streaming option, Sonos music system, underfloor heating, Domofocus fireplace and air conditioning.
- Separate guest toilet with hand washer in the hall.
- Four spacious bedrooms, all with an en suite bathroom with storage cupboard, toilet, sink and shower. The master bathroom has a double sink with storage, toilet, walk-in shower and bath. Each bedroom has a 180×200 bed (which can be pushed apart as needed), spacious wardrobes and all but one large sliding window to the outside. All windows are fitted with mosquito netting and have blinds on the outside that can be opened as needed. All bedrooms have air conditioning.
Outside
- There are two spacious terraces, one on the south with a spacious canopy that provides shade during the day. On this terrace is a huge olive tree around which the whole house was built. Outdoor table for 8 people and lounge furniture. North facing a more enclosed terrace – patio with its own furniture. There you will find a nice shade in the afternoon in the summer.
- The swimming pool (4.5 x 11m) is not fenced, beautifully lit in the evening, has an adjoining sun terrace with outdoor shower and toilet and is located slightly lower on the property. This way, guests on the terrace are not constantly disturbed by swimming pool noise.
- There is a spacious garage for 2 cars.
- The site is completely fenced and has access via a sliding gate, which can be operated via a keypad and / or remote control. There is videophony.
- On the ground you will find many centuries-old olive trees, carob trees, cypress and umbrella pines, oleanders, honeysuckle and many herbs – wild thyme, rosemary, sage, parsley …
- The house is accessible for disabled persons through the kitchen door at the back.
- Challenge yourself to find your favorite spot on the ground to read, practice yoga or plan your visit to Portugal.
